Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topić has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, team general manager Sam Presti announced Thursday.

Presti confirmed that the 20-year-old had already begun undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Topić, the No. 12 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, missed last season while recovering from an ACL injury. Earlier this month, on October 6, he underwent a biopsy procedure at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, which led to the diagnosis.

Given the circumstances, Presti did not offer a timetable for Topić’s return to basketball but emphasized that the organization is fully committed to supporting him through his recovery.

“Our only expectations for him are to focus on this,” Presti said. “This is his most important priority. He’ll be back playing basketball when he’s able to, but we’re not putting any timeline or expectations on that. He has our total support, encouragement, and love.”
