The Atlanta Hawks survived in double overtime, posting a 142-134 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday (PH time) at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
The Sixers were up by two in overtime, 126–124, when Dominick Barlow committed a costly shooting foul on Jalen Johnson, allowing the forward to force the game into double overtime.
Johnson then delivered in the clutch, knocking down back-to-back triples to give Atlanta a six-point lead, 138–132, with 1:25 remaining. Tyrese Maxey answered with a driving layup, but that proved to be Philadelphia’s final basket of the night.
A layup from Dyson Daniels, followed by free throws from Nickeil Alexander-Walker, secured the win for the Hawks and capped a thrilling double-overtime showdown.
The 24-year-old Johnson powered Atlanta with 41 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Alexander-Walker added 34 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. With the victory, the Hawks improved to 13–8 in the Eastern Conference.
Maxey led the Sixers with 44 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, as Philadelphia slipped to 10–9 on the season.
