Stephen Curry exploded for the Golden State Warriors as they narrowly escaped the San Antonio Spurs with a 125-120 victory on Thursday (PH time) at the Frost Bank Arena in San Antonio.
With a four-point lead and 2:41 remaining in the fourth quarter, Jimmy Butler III drained a three-pointer followed by a Gary Payton II layup, 119-110, forcing the Spurs to play catch-up until the final buzzer.
Curry caught fire for the Warriors, scoring 46 points and bouncing back from his 11-point outing in yesterday’s 126-102 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Butler delivered an all-around performance for the Spurs, recording 28 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals, while Moses Moody also chipped in 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from downtown, helping Golden State improve to 7-6.
The victory served as a morale boost for the Warriors, who still have four road games remaining on their schedule.
On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama narrowly missed a triple-double with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists, but San Antonio’s five-game winning streak at home came to a screeching halt, dropping them to 8-3 in the Western Conference standings.
