Donovan Mitchell exploded for 46 points to power the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Philadelphia 76ers, 132–121, in the finale of their three-game home stand Thursday morning (PH time) at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Ohio.
Wearing their retro jerseys complementing the retro court, the Cavs also welcomed back Jarrett Allen, Sam Merrill, and Darius Garland, who made his season debut after missing the first seven games.
Cleveland opened strong with a 41-point first quarter, but the 76ers answered with 40 points in the second to stay within striking distance at halftime.
From a 72-all deadlock early in the second half, the Cavs unleashed a decisive run to build a 20-point cushion heading into the final frame and never looked back.
Mitchell’s scoring outburst was backed by Allen’s 24-point, 10-rebound double-double and Evan Mobley’s 23 points, five boards, and three assists. Garland finished with eight points, four assists, and two rebounds in his return.
The Cavaliers improved to 5–3 and will next face the Washington Wizards on Saturday, while the 76ers look to halt their skid against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.
