The Houston Rockets fended off a valiant effort from state rival Dallas Mavericks, 110-102, Tuesday morning (Manila time) to notch their fourth straight victory in the 2025-26 NBA season.
Amen Thompson led the way with 27 points, while Alperen Sengun added 26 and Kevin Durant chipped in 21 for the soaring Rockets.
With under two minutes remaining, the Rockets leaned on Sengun as their star big man sank a smooth hook shot to extend Houston’s lead to 105-102. The six-foot-11 Turkishman capped off the game with a steady performance on both ends.
Following a Dallas timeout, D’Angelo Russell tried to tie the game but missed a three-pointer. With time running out, the Mavericks were forced to send Josh Okogie to the line, where he calmly drained two clutch free throws. Moments later, Thompson split his own charities to put the game on ice.
PJ Washington paced the Mavericks with a game-high 29 points, while Max Christie added 17 markers in the losing effort.
The Rockets improved to 4-2 on the season, while Dallas fell to 2-4 after suffering its second straight loss. Houston will hit the road to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, while the Mavericks look to regroup against the New Orleans Pelicans on the same day.
