The Portland Trail Blazers pulled off a dramatic comeback to edge the Denver Nuggets, 109–107, in a Halloween thriller on Saturday morning (Manila time) to open their NBA Cup campaign.
 
The game was deadlocked at 107 in the final seconds when Aaron Gordon committed a costly foul on Jerami Grant during a shooting attempt. Grant calmly sank both free throws to give Portland the decisive lead.
 
With no timeouts remaining, Nikola Jokić had one final chance to force overtime, but his turnaround jumper at the buzzer fell short after receiving a long pass from Gordon.
 
Deni Avdija led the Blazers with 23 points, four assists, and four rebounds, while Shaedon Sharpe added 19 points in the victory.
 
 
For Denver, Jokić narrowly missed surpassintg the NBA record for most consecutive triple-doubles to start a season, finishing with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists. Jamal Murray chipped in 22 points, six rebounds, and three assists in the losing effort.
