The Oklahoma City Thunder escaped a tough contest against the Dallas Mavericks, holding on for a 101–94 win to open the season with a 4–0 record.

Despite leading by as many as 18 points through three quarters, the Thunder’s offense stalled in the last period, managing just 14 points. However, their dominance on the boards allowed them to power through the closing stretch.

The Mavericks ignited a 15–0 run in the fourth quarter, with D'Angelo Russell’s floater cutting the deficit to just one.

Ultimately, the Thunder held firm as pivotal plays from Isaiah Hartenstein—a clutch layup—and steady free throws from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sealed the victory.

The reigning MVP finished with 23 points and 8 assists but was limited to only 2 points in the fourth. Center Isaiah Hartenstein was a force inside, recording 16 points and 12 rebounds, including 5 on the offensive glass. His crucial layup in the closing moments proved decisive.

For Dallas, Anthony Davis was efficient, shooting 10-of-16 to tally 26 points and 11 rebounds. P.J. Washington added 15 points and 9 boards, while highly touted rookie Cooper Flagg struggled mightily, going just 1-of-10 from the field and scoring only 2 points.
