Quentin Grimes buried a clutch three-pointer in the final seconds to lift the Philadelphia 76ers past the Charlotte Hornets, 125–121, in a tightly contested Eastern Conference matchup Sunday morning at Wells Fargo Center.

The game swung back and forth, with both teams holding double-digit leads at different points before it turned into a wire-to-wire battle in the fourth quarter.

With the score tied at 119 and under 15 seconds remaining, Tyrese Maxey drew a double team and kicked the ball out to a slightly open Grimes, who calmly knocked down the game-winning triple to seal Philadelphia’s second straight victory.

Maxey and Grimes carried the Sixers down the stretch with 2023 MVP Joel Embiid on a minutes restriction. Maxey led all scorers with 28 points, while Grimes added 24, including the decisive shot.

Embiid, continuing to work his way back from offseason knee surgery, made his presence felt early but sat out the final nine minutes of the game. He finished with 20 points and two rebounds in limited action.

Rookie sensation VJ Edgecombe, coming off a historic 34-point debut—the third-highest for a first-year player in NBA history—chipped in 15 points.

LaMelo Ball and Collin Sexton tallied 27 and 21 points to lead the Hornets, who lost forward Brandon Miller in the first half due to left shoulder soreness.

Charlotte (1-1) will look to regroup quickly as they visit the Washington Wizards on Monday, while Philadelphia (2-0) aims to extend its winning streak against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night.
