Savi Davison brought back the winning ways of PLDT, dealing the erstwhile-unbeaten Farm Fresh’s first loss, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-16, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Saturday at the Ynares Center Montalban.
Licking the wounds of a straight-set loss to an import-less Cignal last Thursday, Davison fired 20 points to put the High Speed Hitters back on top of Pool A, tying Farm Fresh with a 3-1 record.
“I think what tells a team is how they recover from a loss, so I’m just glad that we showed up today. I’m glad that we didn’t take anything for granted,” said Davison."
Point by point we pushed the gap so I’m just happy especially against a team like that, they have a lot of good athletes especially Helene so I’m just glad that we persevered and finished it.”
Russian Anastasiia Bavykina delivered 18 points. Majoy Baron and Kianna Dy had 10 and nine points, respectively.
Kim Fajardo paced PLDT with 21 excellent sets and 14 digs, while libero Kath Arado tallied 18 digs and nine receptions.
“Before the game, the main reminder was to stay composed. I told them that every match will be tough, so we just needed to apply the lessons we learned from our previous game. We didn’t get the first set, but the players really pushed themselves to recover right away,” said PLDT coach Rald Ricafort.
