Jerwin Ancajas displayed a masterful performance, dominating Ruben Tostado Garcia for a winning start to his featherweight campaign at the Hipodromo Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico on Sunday (Manila time).

The former International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight champion knocked down the Mexican twice then detonated booming shots to force him to quit on his stool at the start of the fifth round.

With the stoppage win, Ancajas improved to 38-4-1 with 25 knockouts, while Tostado fell to 28-17-1.

Stepping in as a late replacement for Rafael Rosas Ramirez, Tostado was immediately put on notice.

Ancajas wasted no time, flooring the Mexican with a crisp left straight just 29 seconds into the opening round.

Tostado tried to rally in the second, pressing the action in hopes of regaining momentum, but Ancajas quickly shut him down with a punishing right to the body.

From there, the Filipino methodically broke his opponent down, targeting the midsection before connecting with a sharp uppercut and another straight left.

The end came in the fourth round when Ancajas unleashed a right to the body followed by a straight left upstairs, sending Tostado crashing to the canvas once more.

Although he beat the count before the bell, his corner had seen enough and called for the stoppage.
