The Cleveland Cavaliers returned to winning ways on Thursday (PH time), securing a 133-107 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Six players scored double figures for the Cavs, who improved their record against the Sixers this season to 2-0.

Donovan Mitchell led the way for the Cavs, finishing with 35 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. He shot 11-for-22 from the field, including 5-for-12 from beyond the arc. He was automatic from the free-throw line, knocking down all 8 of his attempts from the charity stripe. Mitchell has now scored at least 30 points in five of his last seven games.

The Cavs got off to a scorching start, building a 33-18 advantage after the first quarter. Darius Garland and De’Andre Hunter powered Cleveland’s offense during that period, each scoring eight points.

The Cavs sustained the momentum in the second half, opening the third quarter with a 15-6 run to extend their lead to 22 points. The Sixers battled back, unleashing a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 63-75 with six minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Cleveland didn’t fold, though, as Philadelphia never managed to cut the Cavs’ lead to single digits the rest of the contest. Evan Mobley added 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who improved their record to 23-19.

Joel Embiid scored a team-high 20 points for the Sixers, who fell to 22-17. The former NBA MVP entered the record books in the game against the Cavs, becoming the seventh player in franchise history to score 13,000 career points.
