Alex Eala failed to add some silverware to her trophy cabinet, losing in the semifinals of both the women’s singles and women’s doubles events at the 2026 ASB Classic last week in Auckland, New Zealand.
Despite falling short in her title bids, Eala was still able to pocket some cash in the WTA 250 tournament. The Filipina tennis star earned $12,331 or P730,000 for her run in the women’s singles. She lost to Chinese star Xinyu Wang in the semifinals.
Eala will also share $4,390 or P260,000 with partner Iva Jovic after they reached the semifinals of the women’s doubles event. They lost to the Chinese pair of Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan in the semis, too.
The Quezon City native finished her 2025 tennis campaign as the 74th highest earner on the WTA Tour ($907,777), having won $851,582 in singles events and $56,195 in doubles tournaments.
