Filipino pride shone on the biggest stage as Jordan Clarkson and Dylan Harper made history in the recently concluded NBA Cup Finals on Wednesday (PH time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Clarkson and Harper just became the first Filipino-Americans to appear in the championship round of the NBA Cup.
Harper, the son of NBA veteran Ron Harper and whose mother is a native of Bataan, delivered a strong showing for the San Antonio Spurs, finishing with 21 points, 5 three-pointers, and 7 rebounds.
However, his performance was not enough to stop the New York Knicks, with Clarkson playing a key role in their title run.
Clarkson, who previously suited up for Gilas Pilipinas, finished with 15 points on three three-pointers.
The showdown between the two Filipino-American players was a compelling clash of experience and youth on the basketball’s biggest stage.
Their presence in the NBA Cup Finals continues to pave the way for aspiring Filipino hoopers dreaming of making it to the NBA.
