The Los Angeles Lakers survived a late surge from the Phoenix Suns, escaping with a 116–114 victory on Monday (PH time) at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix.
The Lakers held a 99–79 lead with less than eight minutes remaining in the final period when the Suns sparked a 35–14 rally, capped by Dillon Brooks’ three-pointer with 12.2 seconds left to take a 114–113 lead.
However, Phoenix’s hopes of stealing the game dimmed when Devin Booker fouled LeBron James on a three-point attempt. James converted two of his three shots from the line and later blocked Grayson Allen’s game-winning attempt to seal the win.
Luka Dončić led the Lakers with 29 points and six rebounds, while James added 26 points and DeAndre Ayton contributed 20 points and 13 boards.
Meanwhile, Booker paced the Suns with 27 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds.
